Alasdair, your blog brings home the reality of Afghanistan to the British people. That an 'ordinary guy of your age' if you don't mind me saying so, is serving there and putting his life on the line, for the rest of of us, I find heroic. I know you would never use that sentiment to describe yourself but I simply cannot find any other words to describe your service. Stay safe.
