From an email I sent to Rushmere residents today:
Over the last week we have had a number of attempted burglaries in our area.
Residents in Whitby Rd and Beverley Rd have reported suspicious behaviour on their excellent community facebook page and the police have informed me that there has been a spate of burglaries or attempted burglaries in Rushmere over the last 3 days - in Hutland Rd, Stradbroke Rd and Sidegate Lane.
In two of the incidents it seems the intruder entered the house by an open door.
If you see anything suspicious in the area report it to the local police by calling 101.
Please be extra observant during the hot weather when more doors and windows may be left open and please check on neighbours especially if they are living on their own or you feel are vulnerable.
Thank you for your help
Cllr Alasdair Ross
In this blog I will be giving my political opinions on both issues at home and abroad. I will also focus on the issues that affect the people of Ipswich and in particular those who live in Rushmere Ward. I will also try and give an insight to how I will be campaigning in Rushmere and Ipswich

leaflets, door knocking and the campaign is in full swing
Today was a busy one on the campaign trail, collecting leaflets from Party HQ this morning and delivering 300 plus leaflets this afternoon. the leaflet was about the spate of graffiti on Sidegate Lane.
Tonight it was off to St John's to help knock on doors. Not many people in but not much change in voters intentions. spotted the Tories out delivering leaflets. Back home and in shock by the football score at Old Trafford, a few quick e mails on campaigning, hear that the Tories were knocking on doors in Stradbroke Road- hope the residents asked about the Zebra crossing.
More leaflets to get out tomorrow and back to St Johns in the evening.
Tory leaflet out in Rushmere but not yet reached my door!
